I purchased this machine from a local operator about 12 years
ago. The machine was in very good condition. The only real damage
to the machine was multiple cigarette burns all over the control
panel. About 4 years ago the power supply went out and I installed
a switching power supply which works great. I did rebuild the
control panel and installed a new overlay. Removing the old
panel overlay was a task. The control panel is made of wood
so using a heat gun and a scraper didn’t work so well.
The cigarette burns went down into the wood and made removing
those areas very difficult. The new panel looks great and nobody
can smoke in my house so I think it’s safe.
Robotron is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s
you against a hundred bad guys all with their own tricks. I
am good at this game and can play it for a very long time. The
game will keep rewarding you with free guys so theoretically
you could play forever if you were really good. You can adjust
the difficulty level and all the best players play it on the
hardest difficulty. I have mine set to medium so normal people
can enjoy the game too.
