Megatouch

Machine History

I purchased my Megatouch from a vendor on eBay. I paid far less than the average going rate for comparable machines so I expected the machine might need some love. The machine worked fine when it came in much to my surprise. I took it home, opened it up, and it was fairly obvious it had spent its entire life in a bar. I took it completely apart. I cleaned all the tar off of every part, it was disgusting. I also decided to paint the bottom silver. Megatouch made a model with a silver bottom and I thought it looked much nicer than the standard electric blue on the Radion models. I also decided to install a pioneer 2 way speaker where the junk speaker was before it. I put the thing back together and it worked great. The speaker makes a huge difference by the way.

My Thoughts on the Machine

I always called these games “video games for alcoholics” because in the bars people would sit there and shovel quarters into them while drinking a tall beer and smoking Camel non-filter cigarettes. They are very fun to play though. The games are all designed to last about 1-3 minutes each on average. There are a whole lot of puzzle games, trivia, and all sorts of Tetris siblings. I really bought the thing so my wife could come down to the arcade and have some fun while I played pinball; she loves those types of games. My son also loves the miniature golf game and loves to sit down with me and play it. There must be subliminal messages on the screen because when you sit down to play you have a strong desire to grab a beer.
